Yasmin De Jesus emerged from humble beginnings, growing up amidst the challenges of one of Newark, NJ's low-income Housing Projects. Despite the odds stacked against her, she embraced the spirit of resilience and determination. In the face of limited opportunities, Yasmin discovered her true calling when she received a life-changing acceptance letter to Arts High School.
Within the walls of the school, Yasmin's passion for art and design blossomed like a vibrant masterpiece. As she honed her skills and unleashed her creativity, a new path revealed itself—one that would transcend the boundaries of her past. With each stroke of her brush, she painted a brighter future, a testament to the transformative power of art.
Throughout her final years in High School, Yasmin embarked on a remarkable journey, collaborating with Newark Legend, Gladys Grauer, on her inaugural Mural. Little did she know that this collaboration would mark the beginning of a profound artistic legacy. Over the course of twelve years and numerous murals, she has used her extraordinary talent to uplift her community and ignite the flames of hope.
Yasmin's Murals have become powerful voices, echoing the importance of diversity, activism, and education.
